I’ve been a nurse for 20 years. But, writing has always been my passion – and, I mean always! I remember being the weird kid who would rather write poetry or receive journals than play sports. I wanted to be a journalist but was brought up in a time where you were expected to go to school to “be” something – enter nursing.
After many years of never feeling like I was in the right place, I ended up in a job that was a horrible fit for me. I remember driving to work feeling like I was having a panic attack and sitting in the car giving myself “pep-talks” just to be able to walk into the building. To an outsider – I should have been happy – I was in management and made a good living. But, inside – I was miserable.
After a particularly bad day – I talked to my husband and decided it was time for a change. I started dreaming of combining my passion for writing with this extensive healthcare background I had obtained during the past 19 years. And, guess what? Much to my surprise, there were opportunities out there for someone like me!
Today, I’ve been working from home for over a year. I write about health care, nursing, and what it means to be a healthy career woman. I also edit, research, fact check, and perform content management. I’m living my best life these days.
